About [CT] NYSE TICK + HLBO Color Match Histogram

Full Indicator Overview [CT] NYSE TICK + HLBO Color Match Histogram is a momentum and price-action confirmation indicator designed to show when directional market pressure and price structure are working together. The indicator combines a TICK-style momentum engine with an HLBO price-action breakout model. The histogram reflects short-term directional pressure, while the HLBO component evaluates whether price is actually confirming that pressure by breaking prior candle structure. When both components agree, the histogram displays a bullish or bearish match color. When they disagree, the histogram shifts to a non-match color, making it easy to distinguish confirmed momentum from weaker or conflicted conditions. The price-action component can evaluate either full candle highs and lows or candle bodies, giving traders flexibility in how structural breaks are defined. The HLBO engine also tracks consecutive bullish or bearish breakout behavior and can either hold its current run length, decay back toward zero at a fixed rate, or decay adaptively based on ATR and current volatility. Multi-timeframe controls allow the momentum and HLBO components to operate on independently selected timeframes. This makes the indicator useful for traders who want to analyze lower-timeframe price action while incorporating confirmation from a higher timeframe. The histogram also monitors zero-line transitions. Crosses above zero indicate a bullish momentum shift, while crosses below zero indicate a bearish momentum shift. Optional BUY and SELL markers can highlight these transitions directly on the indicator. For additional visual confirmation, users can enable background shading and optional chart-candle coloring based on the same momentum and HLBO alignment logic. Key Features - TICK-style directional momentum histogram - HLBO-based price-action confirmation - Bullish and bearish match detection - Bullish and bearish non-match detection - Full-bar or candle-body breakout logic - Multi-timeframe momentum analysis - Multi-timeframe HLBO price-action analysis - Adjustable HLBO breakout threshold - Static, reset, or ATR-adaptive oscillator behavior - Zero-line BUY and SELL signals - Customizable histogram colors - Optional background shading - Optional price-candle coloring - Built-in bullish, bearish, and HLBO alert conditions How to Interpret It A bullish match occurs when momentum is positive and the HLBO price-action structure is also bullish. A bearish match occurs when momentum is negative and the HLBO price-action structure is also bearish. A non-match occurs when momentum is pointing in one direction but price structure has not confirmed that direction. These conditions can help identify pullbacks, failed breakouts, weakening continuation, consolidation, or an early shift in market behavior. The main objective is to help traders answer two questions at the same time: What direction is momentum pushing? Is price action confirming that move? When both agree, the indicator highlights a stronger directional environment. When they disagree, it provides an immediate visual warning that momentum and price structure are not fully aligned. Best used as a confirmation tool alongside price action, support and resistance, trend structure, and the trader’s existing entry and risk-management process.

Indicator Logic

How It Works

[CT] NYSE TICK + HLBO Color Match Histogram combines a momentum signal with price-action structure to show when both are pointing in the same direction. The first part of the indicator builds a TICK-style momentum reading from the relationship between the candle’s open and close. That value is smoothed with an EMA and plotted as a histogram around the zero line. When the histogram is above zero, momentum is considered bullish. When it is below zero, momentum is considered bearish. At the same time, the HLBO engine analyzes price action by checking whether price is breaking above or below prior candle structure. Depending on your settings, it can use either the previous candle’s full high/low or the previous candle body. The indicator then compares these two conditions: - Bullish momentum + bullish HLBO price action = Bullish Match - Bearish momentum + bearish HLBO price action = Bearish Match - Bullish momentum without bullish price confirmation = Bullish Non-Match - Bearish momentum without bearish price confirmation = Bearish Non-Match The histogram color changes automatically based on that relationship. This is what makes the indicator useful: it does not only tell you which direction momentum is moving. It also tells you whether price action is actually confirming that move. For example, a green momentum reading may look bullish, but if HLBO price structure is not confirming it, the histogram will show a different color than a fully confirmed bullish condition. The same applies on the bearish side. The zero line also acts as an important momentum reference. A cross above zero generates a bullish signal, while a cross below zero generates a bearish signal. Optional BUY and SELL markers can be displayed for these transitions. The HLBO portion can also track breakout streaks and either hold the current value, decay back toward zero, or use ATR-based adaptive decay. This allows the price-action component to remain responsive to different market conditions. Both the momentum calculation and HLBO engine can use selectable timeframes, allowing traders to combine lower-timeframe execution with higher-timeframe confirmation. In simple terms: Momentum tells you where pressure is going. HLBO tells you what price is actually doing. The histogram color tells you whether the two agree.

Practical Application

Suggested Usage

For bullish setups, look for the histogram to be above zero and displaying a bullish match color. This means momentum is positive and the HLBO price-action engine is also confirming bullish structure. That combination can provide stronger confirmation for long setups, breakouts, or continuation trades. For bearish setups, look for the histogram to be below zero and displaying a bearish match color. This indicates that bearish momentum and bearish price structure are aligned. The indicator can also be useful during pullbacks. If price temporarily retraces but the broader directional structure remains intact, watch for the histogram to return to a matching bullish or bearish state. That shift can help identify when momentum and price action are beginning to realign with the larger move. Non-match colors should generally be treated as a caution condition. They indicate that momentum and price structure are not fully confirming one another. This may occur during consolidation, weakening trends, failed breakouts, pullbacks, or transition periods. The zero line can be used as an additional timing reference. A cross above zero may signal improving bullish pressure, while a cross below zero may signal increasing bearish pressure. These crosses are generally more meaningful when the HLBO structure confirms the same direction. For multi-timeframe analysis, traders can use a higher timeframe for either the momentum or HLBO calculation while executing on a lower timeframe. This can help filter lower-timeframe noise and keep trades aligned with a stronger structural backdrop. A practical approach is: - Use price action and market structure to establish directional bias. - Use the zero line to identify momentum direction. - Use the histogram color to confirm whether momentum and HLBO price structure agree. - Give greater weight to setups where both components are aligned. - Treat non-match conditions as a reason to wait for additional confirmation or reduce confidence. - Combine the indicator with support/resistance, VWAP, trend filters, opening-range levels, or other established parts of your trading plan. The indicator is not intended to predict every reversal or generate standalone trades. Its primary purpose is to help answer: “Is momentum supporting what price action is telling me?”

Configuration

Settings and Configuration

[CT] NYSE TICK + HLBO Color Match Histogram includes separate controls for the momentum engine, HLBO price-action engine, oscillator behavior, colors, and display preferences. NYSE TICK Histogram TICK EMA Length Controls the smoothing applied to the TICK-style momentum calculation. - Lower values respond faster to short-term changes. - Higher values create a smoother, slower momentum reading. - Default: 14 TICK Timeframe Determines the timeframe used for the momentum calculation. - Leave blank to use the current chart timeframe. - Select a higher timeframe to incorporate broader momentum context. HLBO Color Match Engine HLBO Threshold Bars Controls how many consecutive price-structure breaks are required before the internal HLBO long or short condition is considered active. - Lower values are more responsive. - Higher values require greater price-action confirmation. - Default: 3 HLBO Timeframe Determines the timeframe used for HLBO price-action analysis. - Leave blank to use the chart timeframe. - A higher timeframe can be used to filter lower-timeframe noise. Use BODY Breaks Changes how the HLBO engine defines a structural break. When OFF: - Bullish break = price closes above the previous full candle high. - Bearish break = price closes below the previous full candle low. When ON: - Bullish break = price closes above the previous candle body high. - Bearish break = price closes below the previous candle body low. Body breaks are generally more sensitive, while full-bar breaks require a stronger price move. HLBO Oscillator Behavior HLBO Mode provides three choices. Hold Run Length (Reset) Tracks the current bullish or bearish breakout streak. The value remains based on the active run until the opposing price-action condition develops. Decay to Zero (Static) When no new breakout occurs, the HLBO value gradually returns toward zero at a fixed rate. Decay to Zero (ATR-Adaptive) The return toward zero automatically adjusts according to market volatility. Static Decay Step Used only with the static decay mode. Determines how quickly the oscillator moves back toward zero. ATR Length Controls the ATR calculation used by the adaptive decay mode. Adaptive Decay Factor Controls how strongly volatility influences the adaptive decay rate. Histogram Color Controls The indicator uses four separate colors so traders can immediately distinguish between confirmation and non-confirmation. Bullish Match Color Used when momentum is bullish and HLBO price action is also bullish. Bearish Match Color Used when momentum is bearish and HLBO price action is also bearish. Bullish Non-Match Color Used when momentum is bullish but HLBO price action does not confirm the same bullish condition. Bearish Non-Match Color Used when momentum is bearish but HLBO price action does not confirm the same bearish condition. These colors are fully customizable. Display Settings Clamp HLBO to ±Threshold Limits the internal HLBO oscillator to the selected threshold range. This can help prevent long breakout streaks from producing unusually large oscillator values. Show Background Shading Adds background coloring based on the current momentum/HLBO match state. Background Transparency Controls how visible the background shading appears. Higher values make the shading more transparent. Show NYSE Buy/Sell Signals Displays BUY and SELL markers when the momentum histogram crosses the zero line. Color Price Candles from NYSE/HLBO Match Colors the actual chart candles using the same match/non-match logic as the histogram. This provides a direct connection between the indicator and price action. Suggested Starting Configuration For a balanced starting point: - TICK EMA Length: 14 - TICK Timeframe: Current chart timeframe - HLBO Threshold Bars: 3 - HLBO Timeframe: Current chart timeframe - Use BODY Breaks: OFF - HLBO Mode: Hold Run Length (Reset) - Clamp HLBO: OFF - Background Shading: ON - Buy/Sell Signals: ON - Price Candle Coloring: Optional For faster intraday trading, traders may experiment with shorter momentum smoothing or body-based breaks. For more selective confirmation, consider using a higher HLBO threshold or a higher timeframe for either the momentum or HLBO component. The settings are designed to let traders decide how quickly the indicator should react and how much price-action confirmation should be required before momentum is considered fully aligned.
