About [CT] Volume pressure Oscillator
The [CT] Volume Pressure Oscillator is designed to show which side of the market is exerting more pressure: buyers or sellers. Instead of looking at volume by itself, the indicator evaluates how price behaves within each candle and combines that information with volume. It calculates separate estimates of bullish and bearish pressure, then applies volume-weighted averaging to determine which side currently has the stronger influence. The final oscillator is the difference between the bullish pressure average and the bearish pressure average. When the oscillator is above zero, buying pressure is stronger. When the oscillator is below zero, selling pressure is stronger. This creates a simple but powerful visual tool for evaluating whether price movement is being supported by bullish or bearish participation.

How It Works
The indicator calculates separate Bull Pressure and Bear Pressure values using the relationship between the current candle, the previous close, the candle high, low, open, and close. These pressure calculations attempt to estimate how much of the candle’s movement can be attributed to buyers versus sellers. Volume is then distributed between the bullish and bearish pressure components. The indicator uses a volume-weighted averaging process to smooth those values over the selected lookback period. The final oscillator is calculated as: Bullish Pressure Average − Bearish Pressure Average The interpretation is straightforward: Above Zero — Bullish Pressure Buying pressure is stronger than selling pressure. Below Zero — Bearish Pressure Selling pressure is stronger than buying pressure. The histogram is colored accordingly: Green Histogram = Bullish volume pressure. Red Histogram = Bearish volume pressure. A zero line provides the equilibrium point between buyers and sellers. When price-bar coloring is enabled, chart candles are colored using the same bullish or bearish pressure state.
Suggested Usage
The Volume Pressure Oscillator is best used as a participation, pressure, and momentum-confirmation tool within The Traders Vibe trading process. For bullish setups, greater confidence can come from seeing the oscillator above zero and expanding higher. For bearish setups, stronger selling pressure is indicated when the oscillator is below zero and extending lower. The indicator can also help identify changes in participation. For example: Price rising + oscillator strengthening above zero Suggests buyers are supporting the move. Price rising + oscillator weakening May indicate that buying pressure is fading. Price falling + oscillator becoming more negative Suggests selling pressure is increasing. Price falling + oscillator moving back toward zero May indicate bearish pressure is weakening. The zero line can also be used as a simple directional filter. A move above zero can signal a shift toward bullish pressure, while a move below zero can signal a shift toward bearish pressure. The indicator should be combined with trend direction, price structure, support and resistance, breakout behavior, and other Traders Vibe tools rather than used as a standalone entry system.
Settings and Configuration
The Volume Pressure Oscillator is intentionally simple and has only a few controls. Lookback Periods — 21 Controls the smoothing period used for the volume-weighted pressure calculations. Lower values make the oscillator react faster to short-term changes in buying and selling pressure. Higher values create a smoother oscillator and reduce short-term fluctuations. The default value of 21 provides a balanced starting point. Color Trend on Price Bars — On When enabled, price candles are colored according to the oscillator’s current pressure state. Green candles indicate bullish pressure. Red candles indicate bearish pressure. Visual Interpretation Green Histogram Above Zero Buying pressure is dominant. Red Histogram Below Zero Selling pressure is dominant. Histogram Expanding Away From Zero Directional pressure is strengthening. Histogram Contracting Toward Zero Directional pressure is weakening. Zero-Line Cross Potential shift in control between buyers and sellers. For most Traders Vibe users, I would keep the default 21-period lookback and candle coloring enabled, then adjust the lookback only if the oscillator feels too fast or too slow for the market and timeframe being traded.
