About [CT] NYSE TICK Indicator with Signals

The [CT] NYSE TICK Indicator with Signals is designed to provide a simple visual read of short-term directional pressure directly on the price chart. This version does not use actual NYSE TICK market breadth data. Instead, it creates a simulated TICK-style reading from each candle’s open-to-close movement measured in minimum tick increments. That simulated value is then smoothed with an EMA to create the indicator’s core TICK EMA. When the TICK EMA is above zero, the indicator treats conditions as bullish. When the TICK EMA is below zero, the indicator treats conditions as bearish. The indicator uses this information to dynamically color the TICK EMA, chart candles, and chart background. It also produces BUY and SELL labels when the smoothed TICK reading crosses the zero line. The result is a straightforward visual momentum tool that can help traders quickly see when short-term pressure changes direction.

What this indicator provides

  • Designed to support structured market analysis.
  • Built for use inside the Traders Vibe trading process.

Indicator Logic

How It Works

The indicator begins by calculating a simulated TICK value from the current candle: Simulated TICK = (Close − Open) ÷ Minimum Tick Size A bullish candle therefore creates a positive value, while a bearish candle creates a negative value. That raw reading is then smoothed using an EMA. The default EMA length is: TICK EMA Length — 14 The indicator interprets the smoothed value relative to zero. TICK EMA above zero Bullish directional pressure. TICK EMA below zero Bearish directional pressure. The visual behavior is then tied directly to that state: Green TICK EMA = Bullish pressure. Red TICK EMA = Bearish pressure. Green candles = TICK EMA above zero. Red candles = TICK EMA below zero. Green background shading = Bullish TICK regime. Red background shading = Bearish TICK regime. A BUY signal occurs when the TICK EMA crosses from below zero to above zero. A SELL signal occurs when the TICK EMA crosses from above zero to below zero. BUY and SELL labels are printed directly on the chart, and matching alert conditions are included.

Practical Application

Suggested Usage

The NYSE TICK Indicator with Signals is best used as a short-term momentum and directional confirmation tool within The Traders Vibe trading process. Because this version uses a simulated TICK calculation rather than actual NYSE breadth data, it should be treated as an instrument-level pressure indicator rather than a true market-wide TICK reading. For bullish setups, traders can look for: TICK EMA crossing above zero Green candle coloring Green background bias BUY label confirmation For bearish setups, traders can look for: TICK EMA crossing below zero Red candle coloring Red background bias SELL label confirmation The strongest use is as a confirmation layer alongside price structure, trend direction, support/resistance, HLBO, momentum, or other Traders Vibe tools. The zero-line crossover can help identify potential momentum transitions, but it should not be treated as an automatic standalone entry. This indicator is especially useful for traders who want a quick visual answer to: Is immediate price pressure bullish or bearish? Has that pressure recently flipped direction?

Configuration

Settings and Configuration

The indicator has one primary adjustable setting. TICK EMA Length — 14 Controls the smoothing applied to the simulated TICK calculation. Lower values make the indicator react faster to changes in candle pressure but may produce more frequent signal changes. Higher values create a smoother reading with fewer directional flips. A shorter EMA may be better suited for aggressive scalping, while a longer EMA may help reduce noise. Visual Interpretation Green TICK EMA Bullish simulated TICK pressure. Red TICK EMA Bearish simulated TICK pressure. Green Price Bars Current TICK EMA is above zero. Red Price Bars Current TICK EMA is below zero. Green Background Bullish pressure regime. Red Background Bearish pressure regime. BUY Triangle / Label TICK EMA crossed above zero. SELL Triangle / Label TICK EMA crossed below zero. Alerts The indicator includes built-in alert conditions for: TICK Buy Signal Triggered when the TICK EMA crosses above zero. TICK Sell Signal Triggered when the TICK EMA crosses below zero. For most Traders Vibe users, I would start with the default TICK EMA Length of 14 and adjust only if the indicator is either too sensitive or too slow for the market and timeframe being traded.
